What’s it worth?

So recently, I was contacted by someone who wanted to know the value of an item they had listed online to sell. I looked up the item and found a couple examples that sold last year. Before I ramble on much longer, here’s what the item looks like:

Union Products Trick or Treat pail $65-$80. Late 1950’s/early 1960’s.

What we have here is a Trick or Treat pail made by “Union Products”.  It’s a cool pail that says Trick on one side (while frowning) and Treat on the other (while smiling). It has a wide plastic handle, and is made of hard plastic. 

The example that I have pictured was painted with a dark green paint. This one sold for $80 which included the shipping. There is another version with black paint, and one like that sold for $65 last year which included the shipping. Take in mind, both of these pails were in mint shape complete with the original handle. If the handle is missing, or there’s damage, the 

There is someone trying to sell one like this online right now, and their price is…$280! C’mon people! Do your homework. This is a cool item, and although you don’t see them pop up everyday, you do see them, and it is not a $280 item…Not even close.
