With less than a week to go before the big night, now is a good time to get started on your pumpkin carving. Hopefully you’ve selected your perfect pumpkin(s) and are ready for inspiration. Head over to ZombiePumpkins.com for the best and most unique pumpkin patterns. A low-cost membership gets you access to 294+ patterns that you can instantly download, print, and carve (and, no, your email will not end up on some horrible spam list). This year’s frightful theme is Age of the Zombie Pumpkins and it features a terrifying winged jack-o-lantern mascot. (Also make sure to check out their shop for an assortment of shirts, stickers, and pumpkin carving tools.)

To keep your pumpkin fresh for the next five days, give it a dunk in a bleach solution! Mix 1 tsp bleach to 1 gallon cold water, dunk the carved pumpkin for at least an hour, turn upside down to drain until dry. Pour some of the solution into a spray bottle and mist the inside daily but do not let the water collect. (You can also try commercial preservatives like Pumpkin Fresh.)
