A very intriguing interview with anthropologist Kathy Strain, author of Giants, Cannibals, & Monsters. I think it’s very interesting to hear that most Native Americans believed Sasquatch to be a “brother” rather than a primate. But worse – a cannibal. In some cases, their oral history tells of warfare with Bigfoots, due to their stealing of Indian children as a food source.
In the years of enjoying programs about Sasquatch, I’ve seen many a Bigfoot hunter bring up the fact that the American Indian believed in the existence of these hairy beasts. They do so as a “Look, I’m not a crazy person. The Indians believe what I believe. So are you calling American Indians crazy?” Funny that they stop short of mentioning the cannibal part. Cherry-picking at its finest.
Kinda makes the Finding Bigfoot episode where they used Girl Scouts as bait to attract curious child-loving beasts somewhat disturbing.
I knew that my life-long fear/hate/distrust of Bigfoot wasn’t unfounded. The American Indian backs me up on this. You calling them crazy?
